One of the week's special events came in a homeroom discussion about values. What do you value that you may need to let go of and reassess its importance? That was the basic idea. To free our minds for thinking, we used South Indian monkey traps.
Your child can explain how the traps work and signify letting go, stepping back and rethinking individual values. Each student wrote a personal example, so ask what was in your third grader's proverbial monkey trap.
We discussed blues music in social studies and made (sorry) music makers out of straws.
